Bedok Mee Pok and fishball noodles stand as quintessential dishes within Singapore's rich culinary landscape. These beloved specialties not only tantalize the taste buds but also carry the essence of the country's diverse cultural heritage.
Mee Pok, a type of flat, yellow wheat noodles, traces its roots back to the Teochew community in China. Brought to Singapore by early Chinese immigrants, it has evolved over the years into a local favorite. The dish is celebrated for its chewy texture and is commonly served with a variety of toppings such as minced meat, mushrooms, and fishballs in a savory sauce.
Alongside mee pok, fishball noodles have cemented their place in the heart of Singaporean cuisine. Fishballs, made from fish paste, are known for their springy texture and are often paired with either flat or thin noodles in a clear, flavorful broth. The simplicity and wholesomeness of fishball noodles have made them a staple in hawker centers and food courts across the country.
The popularity of mee pok and fishball noodles in Singapore can be attributed to several factors. Their affordability, accessibility, and the comforting flavors reminiscent of home-cooking have made these dishes favorites among locals and tourists alike. Hawker centers, the epicenter of Singapore's street food culture, play a crucial role in the dissemination and evolution of these dishes, offering variations that cater to a wide range of palates.
Bedok's history as a coastal town has deeply influenced its culinary traditions. Historically, the area was home to many fishing communities, whose daily catch became the cornerstone of local cuisine. Fishballs, made from the surplus catch, emerged as a staple ingredient, leading to the proliferation of fishball noodle shops as a way to celebrate and utilize the local produce. Today Bedok is filled with the best fishball noodles stall you can find in Singapore.

Boon Kee Kway Teow Noodle (since 1976)
"Had this place bookmarked and finally got a chance to go. Needed to use a combination of MRT, bus and walk to reach here. Kind uncles manning the stall. Took the Minced Meat Noodles for $5. They had a few customers ahead of me but was served within 10 mins. Noodles was springy, and the quantity of minced meat, fishballs and fishcake was generous. Nice chilli, which the noodles absorbed well. I think I spotted an orange fishcake which is so rare in hawker stalls these days." Mr Supreet Kini
Shen Ji Teochew Kway Teow Fishball Noodle Soup
"Went for dinner/supper, not too crowded on a Friday night so waiting time was around 5 mins. For first timers, the menu doesn’t show the prices, you can try to look at the POS system screen for the prices while queuing. Ordered their signature fishball meepok dry(big) for $7.50, which is a little pricey for meepok but I guess the ingredients made up for it. The fishball, fishcake, tau pok and prawn ball were fresh and nice. Noodles are Q which is unlike other typical mee pok noodles." Mr Dexter Teh
LiXin Teochew Fishball Noodles
"This is the eating place to go after shopping at Decathlon as it is less crowded. The chilli sauce in the dry noodles is very thick and sweet due to the tomato ketchup. It can be quite spicy, so I always request for less spicy. The soup is clear and light, and it is refillable. I also like the fish dumpling and fish cake. I ordered the signature noodles which costs $7." Mr Tan Cheng HarLai lai fishball noodle
"Been eating this for a good few months since I moved to Bedok. It's not anything special but I am just mesmerized by the simple flavours and homestyle presentation. Perhaps as we get older, we just like it simpler. Definitely has my vote over the more famous stalls nearby. Edit: best part is the owner makes an effort to memorize the orders of his regulars so that's really a nice touch on top of the already tasty food." Mr Gerald Chan
Lai Lai Fishball Noodle
"Nice and decent bowl of noodle. Portion was reasonable for that price. Sauce was well mix with the noodles. Surprisingly the soup was nice, is the taste I like. Ingredients was generous and the boss was polite with fast service. Recommend to give it a try 👍." Shan Leong
Quan Ji Fish Ball Noodle 泉记
"TLDR: cheap and good For $3.50 meal, this teo chew fishball noodle is a rare treat. With every business claiming “inflation” and increasing prices (Dec 2023) and passing to the cost to consumers. This is one of the 有良心 (a virtuous) food fall. Let’s pray they maintain the good practice and wishing the live long and prosper. For those with bigger appetite, you can op for the $4.50 or $5.50 meal. The taste is authentic, especially pork lard is present. A very important ingredient to classic teo chew noodle. The fish cake, fish ball, meat ball and a decent amount of minced meat! What more you can ask for a $3.50 meal!" Rukasu
Yong Hwa Delights Handmade Fishball Meat Ball Noodle (#01-32)
"Had this a few times, overdue for a review, and can also gauge that it's quite consistent. Had the "signature". He takes the trouble to cook this in stages, and it shows in the taste and presentation. Definitely get the dry version. The noodles come with braised mushrooms, a mini ngo hiang, two fried wantons. The broth is most soothing and has a fishball, a meatball, minced pork, sliced pork, fish cake, egg, ikan bilis. Good value at 6.50. Would come back to try his other dishes, such as laksa." Mr Ronald Hee
Seng Hiang Bak Chor Mee (#01-08)
"Great for supper given the late opening times. Have to wait for the food but the electronic tag made it much more convenient to look for seats or order other food first. Noodles are al dente, soup is porky garlicky and satisfying. Quantity of meatballs and noodles for the price is worth. Overall would travel for supper given limited options but will not travel all the way in the day when other options available. Definitely would go if I'm in the area." Joey Wong
Chai Chee Minced Meat Noodle
"Have been patronizing this stall for more than 20years. So far it’s still one of my top favorite Bak Chor mee. I love that their soup is light ,not too oily but yet you can taste the sweetness. Noodles are cook to perfection and springy. Their handmade dumplings are flavorful and yummy. It will be perfect if they give more minced pork, so those minced pork lovers do request to ask for additional minced pork." Mr Alvin Toh
Bedok 16 Minced Meat Noodle
"One of the best if not the best BCM in Bedok! They offer dry version on top of the usual soupy type. Flavourful dumplings infused with noticeable amount of ti-po, served in well balanced minced pork broth which was not overlay oily nor salty. Just right. The entire bowl was just very easy to enjoy." Mr Poh Soh Lee
Shun Fa Shu Shi Fishball Minced Pork Noodles
"This stall needs no introduction and expect to wait a while longer during peak hour. The dry version of Mee Pok or Mee Kia with added Chilli 🌶️ gives ones the satisfaction of the wholesome taste of a good noodle." TCH
